SNF Ithaca Senior Fellow Van Jones connects with students around civil discourse and the importance of preserving democracy.
Each semester one SNF Ithaca Senior Fellow teaches a one-credit course in the Biden School. Senior Fellows are experienced public servants, journalists, scholars or activists with substantial experience in government and civic life. SNF Ithaca Senior Fellows are practitioners and public figures who offer students a unique learning experience connecting to democratic citizenship, civil discourse, civic engagement and/or the mediated public square.

To make these opportunities possible, each Fellow receives an honorarium, travel and accommodation, and publication opportunities through SNF Ithaca.
Nominations and self-nominations are strongly encouraged from scholars in diverse institutions such as universities, think tanks and government agencies. Preference will be given to those whose research explores relevant themes affecting the United States.
