Master Tuition Scholarships

Biden School Masters Tuition Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and are not guaranteed with admission. Tuition scholarships are awarded separately from research assistantships. All master level students are eligible to apply.
A Biden School Tuition Scholarship covers a portion of a student’s tuition. The average award is 30%. The Biden School awards scholarships to students in masters programs in pursuit of its goals related to:
- Expanding the Diversity of our student body by encouraging students who identity as a member of an underrepresented group, including racial, ethnic, ability, and LGBTQ+.
- Increasing accessibility by supporting first-generation college students.
- Recognizing exceptional student achievement and merit.
- Encouraging cultural and experiential inclusion of those with work experience, applied experience, international perspectives, military service, etc.
In order to apply for a tuition scholarship you are invited to write an essay of no more than 500 words. Please upload this essay to your application in the supplemental documents sections. In your essay, please address one or more of the following questions:
- Are you a member of a historically underrepresented group?
- Were you a first-generation college student?
- Do you have a financial need that is a potential barrier to graduate study?
- Have you earned any exceptional academic achievements?
- Have you earned any exceptional professional achievements?
- How do you believe you will bring diversity of perspective to your prospective program?
This tuition award is independent of other offers made to you by School Centers or individual faculty members. Tuition scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis until funds are no longer available. If you have questions about this request, please reach out to bidenschool@udel.edu.
Research Assistantships

The Biden School provides financial assistance to some graduate students through research assistantships

by the Biden School-affiliated research and public service centers. Research
assistantships
are competitively awarded to full-time students. Get more
details on research assistantships, and be sure to fill out the Biden School Supplementary Information Form (Word version or PDF version) with your application in order to be considered for an assistantship.
University Graduate Scholars (UGS) Awards

A major source of support for the University of Delawares diversity efforts, the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration receives several University Graduate Scholars (UGS) awards each year for graduate students. University Graduate Scholars awards consist of full tuition scholarships for fall and spring semesters and an academic-year stipend. University Graduate Scholars are expected to work in one of Biden Schools affiliated research centers for 20 hours per week during the academic year.
