Biden School Masters Tuition Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and are not guaranteed with admission. Tuition scholarships are awarded separately from research assistantships. Eligible Master programs include:
- M.S. in Disaster Science & Management
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- Master of Public Policy (MPP)
- M.A. in Urban Affairs & Public Policy
- Master of Energy & Environmental Policy (MEEP)
If you are an applicant to a masters program listed above, you may apply for a tuition scholarship. A Biden School Tuition Scholarship covers a portion of a student’s tuition, typically between 30-75%. The average award is 30%. The Biden School awards scholarships to students in masters programs in pursuit of its goals related to:
- Expanding the Diversity of our student body by encouraging students who identity as a member of an underrepresented group, including racial, ethnic, ability, and LGBTQ+.
- Increasing accessibility by supporting first-generation college students.
- Recognizing exceptional student achievement and merit.
- Encouraging cultural and experiential inclusion of those with work experience, applied experience, international perspectives, military service, etc.
In order to apply for a tuition scholarship you are invited to write an essay of no more than 500 words. Please upload this essay to your application in the supplemental documents sections. In your essay, please address one or more of the following questions:
- Are you a member of a historically underrepresented group?
- Were you a first-generation college student?
- Do you have a financial need that is a potential barrier to graduate study?
- Have you earned any exceptional academic achievements?
- Have you earned any exceptional professional achievements?
- How do you believe you will bring diversity of perspective to your prospective program?
Tuition award awards are non-renewable and any future awards are not guaranteed. This tuition award is independent of other offers made to you by School Centers or individual faculty members. Tuition scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis until funds are no longer available. If you have questions about this request, please reach out to bidenschool@udel.edu.
Please note: Typically, the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Policy and Management program does not offer tuition scholarships, unless you are a part of a special program such as military veterans, University Graduate Scholars (UGS), Fulbright, or McNair.
