Chief of Staff

<div> </div>Meredith currently works as the Chief of Staff at the Delaware Department of Education where she oversees policy, legislation and regulation work, as well as communications and human resources. <div> </div><div>Prior to her work at the Department of Education, Meredith was the Chief Policy Advisor at the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families (DSCYF), where she served as the legislative liaison and advised the Cabinet Secretary on policy matters. During her time at DSCYF, she advocated and helped pass legislation expanding the number of families eligible to adopt a child, enabled additional trauma-informed practices for law enforcement and schools, and created Delaware's tuition waiver program for youth aging out of foster care. Meredith previously worked in the General Assembly as a legislative aide and then a policy analyst for the House Majority Caucus. She has more than 10 years of experience working alongside policy makers in fields of education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and mental and behavioral health services. Meredith earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and her Master of Public Administration from the University of Delaware. During her MPA program, she served as a graduate research assistant in the Institute for Public Administration, where she worked with Ed Freel to launch the University's first Washington, DC, winter session program (now offered as a full semester).
