Happy #MeetUsMonday! Today we are highlighting Matt Harris, Associate Policy Scientist at the Institute for Public Administration (IPA). Matt previously worked as a Planner for the City of Wilmington and he now utilizes those stellar skills in his current position, where he plays an integral role in the daily operations for the Grant Assistance Program (GAP).
We asked Matt a few questions including his experience at IPA thus far, and here is how he responded:
What is working at IPA like?
I have heard people describe IPA as a family. Before I was employed here I was never really sure what that meant but now that I am here, I completely get it. Everyone is so welcoming and inclusive, it is fun and people like to collaborate to accomplish good work.
Describe IPA in 3 words.
Team, Collaborative, Supportive
What hashtags describe your personality best?
#community #overthinker #thrifting #bike
Where is your happy place?
Sitting around a fire pit with my friends while the kids run around the neighborhood playing
What is something people don’t know about you?
I love vintage Christmas (supporting pic attached)
What has been your favorite project at IPA?
We worked with the towns of Slaughter Beach and Milford to explore a grant opportunity to study a potential bike trail between the two towns. Both towns were so easy to work with and excited about the project. We recently found out we are advancing in future grant selection rounds which feels like a win for both of the towns and our program as well.
