Happy #MeetUsMonday! We have a whole bunch of amazing staff members at IPA that we can't wait for you to meet. This week, we are introducing Julia O'Hanlon, policy scientist at the Institute for Public Administration (IPA). She is also the Health and Aging Policy Services Coordinator and the Staff Liaison for the Delaware League of Local Governments. Julia has worked at IPA for nearly 20 years, and can be instantly recognized by her friendly persona that leaves a lasting impression on everyone that she meets through the department and beyond. She has a special interest in community-based programs, especially those that support Delaware's aging population.
We asked Julia a few questions including her experience at IPA thus far, and these are her responses:
What is working at IPA like?
Given that I am approaching my 20th year at IPA, I’d say it’s amazing and my dream job. I love the ability to work with so many talented people and touch communities like we do.
Describe IPA in 3 words.
Innovative, Public Serving, Adaptable
What hashtags describe your personality best?
#Caring, #Energetic, #Friendly
Where is your happy place?
Sharing a meal or sporting event with my family, exploring new places, or hitting the trails at any of Delaware’s amazing state parks
What is something people don’t know about you?
I climbed Mt Fuji during a typhoon and served as a court clerk for the NCCo Prothonotary’s office (not at the same time, though…)
What has been your favorite project at IPA?
While I really enjoy most of the projects that I have been a part of over the years, I love our partnership with the state on assessing senior centers. I get to see the direct impact of community-based programs and state funding on our state’s older adults; and this project has led to my evolving interests and expertise in health and aging policy.
