Happy #MeetUsMonday! Today we are highlighting Haley Q. Burns, Assistant Policy Scientist at the Institute for Public Administration (IPA). Haley serves as an essential team member of the Redding Consortium for Educational Equity. She contributes to the team's efforts towards achieving educational equity and improving educational outcomes for all Pre-K to grade twelve students in the City of Wilmington and northern New Castle County Delaware.
What is working at IPA like?
Working at IPA is great, it is a very supportive environment. I think the folks at IPA want to genuinely help the communities they work with and make Delaware a better place to live. Since there are so many policy areas reflected in the work that IPA does, there is always a staff or faculty person to learn from and collaborate with.
Describe IPA in 3 words.
Supportive, Impressive, Grounded.

Where is your happy place?
My happy place is on the couch watching a feel-good/crime TV show or taking a walk and trying to capture some nice/artistic pictures.
What is something people don’t know about you?
I danced from ages 3-17, mostly doing ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and acro. I also really love a good fantasy book series.
What has been your favorite project at IPA?
My favorite project at IPA has been the Redding Consortium for Educational Equity. I’m happy that through this project, several schools and community centers in Wilmington, Delaware were able to provide wraparound services and expanded pre-k seats to students from low-income families.
