Delaware's Kids and Economic Security

The Center for Community Research and Service (CCRS) has released a research brief on issues and legislation related to economic security in Delaware as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on this topic. Throughout this brief, CCRS Graduate Research Assistant Tatiana Galdamez, Undergraduate Student Researcher Miranda Perez-Rivera, Policy Scientist Janice Barlow, and Assistant Policy Scientist Erin Nescott, present data pertaining to obstacles various Delawareans face when working towards economic security and the resources that are currently available to them or may still be needed.

There are numerous aspects to consider when attempting to tackle problems about economic security in Delaware. Information about financial aid options is shared, as are details about programs such as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infant and Children, more commonly known as WIC, for mothers and mothers-to-be. Information about family supports, minimum wage, and legislature related to said topics is also provided. Racial and ethnic disparities are also considered throughout the text about these subjects. This brief contributes to the continuation of assessing the needs of Delawareans, particularly those of vulnerable and marginalized populations, and work towards equitable access to economic security.
