I chose Delawares MPA program because it offered a unique blend of classroom instruction and real world experience. Through the hands-on learning approach, I knew I would be able to gain essential research, communication, and team building skills.
Each day is different! During the school year I generally devote mornings to my assistantship. I arrive at work around 8:30 and spend several hours working on an array of projects. Following a quick break, I usually spend the afternoon in class studying organizational leadership. The evenings are filled with reading, reviewing, and prepping for the next day.
My first year, I worked at the Institute for Public Administration on performance measurement and health policy. I am currently working at the Office for Institutional Research and Planning where I am involved with the collection, analysis and distribution of institutional data. This data is used in planning, decision-making, and policy formulation at the University of Delaware and other universities across the nation.
In my free time, I try to take advantage of the universitys proximity to Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, D.C. and, of course, the beaches. I also serve as the graduate senate representative on UASA.
SPPA has provided me with a priceless opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and a diverse student population. The supportive network has made earning my Masters degree a truly rewarding and positive experience.
