Did you know that IPAs staff members are just as diverse and interesting as our many areas of expertise? On #MeetUsMondays, well feature a different member of our team each week in the hopes that you can get to know us better.
Lets meet Troy Mix. We asked Troy five questions, read on for his responses:
Who are you?
Troy Mixhusband to Shelley; father of Henry (7), Owen (5), and Allison (2); diehard Pitt Panther fan; economic development geek; and IPA Associate Director and lead of IPAs Regional Development + Planning Team
What are you working on?
Recording interviews for IPAs new podcast, First State Insights, wrapping up an analysis of 20 years of planning and development progress in Delaware since the adoption of the first Strategies for State Policies and Spending in 1999, and planning a series of virtual #FreightFriday events to take the place of the annual Delmarva Freight Summit in June.
Where are you working?
Ive carved out an office in our newly renovated (just in time!) attic. Join me on a Zoom call and youll be sure to catch glimpses of my Rust Belt book and retro computer collections. Anyone have a copy of Oregon Trail for the Apple IIe? #AskingForAFriend
Why do you do this work?
Growing up in small towns influenced my choice of vocation and my approach to work. Agriculture and manufacturing were the lifeblood of the towns I call home, and I couldnt help but be influenced by the economic, community, and family disruptions that change in these industries brought about. Change is inevitable and I strive to support communities with the connections and resources they need to weather change and shape the future of the places they care about in ways that ensure prosperity for all Delawareans.
What are you doing when youre not working?
Maintaining our 1915 home, plotting our next grocery delivery, working on my jump shot and running a makeshift basketball clinic for Owen in our driveway, and connecting via Zoom with high school friends. Seriously, why didnt we think of getting together virtually before?
