CCRS has released a research brief on policies and programs regarding Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) in Delaware, set in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through the text, CCRS Graduate Research Assistant Emily Loughlin, along with Assistant Policy Scientists Becky McColl and Erin Nescott present a snapshot of OUD in Delaware, followed by visual presentations of opioid prescribing rates for 2020 and overdose death rate yearly trends through 2019.
Data is shared regrading incidence of OUD by race, ethnicity, geography, age, and housing status. Statistics are set in the context of measures and reforms that have been put in place throughout recent years, detailing specific programs available throughout the state. As supports are noted, insights regarding gaps in service are shared from a Delaware client with lived experience.
The brief concludes with a heavy focus on the junction of OUD and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Delaware, laying clear the urgency of opportunity for continued support of OUD prevention.
