Nomination Presented to Delaware's State Historic Review Board

On Wednesday, January 16, 2018, CHAD Architectural Historian
Michael J. Emmons, Jr. presented the Downtown Harrington Historic District
National Register Nomination to Delaware's State Historic Review Board.
CHAD nominated the historic district under criteria A and C
as an example of a prominent railroad town in central Delawareand for the
commercial and residential architecture of Harrington's core.

This core was built
largely during the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, and embodies
the heyday of Harringtons railroad era from the period 1856-1960.
The nomination was approved by the State Historic Review Board,
and now moves on to national-level approval in Washington, D.C.

Historic Preservation Certificate Program and Biden School alum,
Jeremy Rothwell, City Planner for the City of Harrington, worked with CHAD to achieve
this nomination.
