If your proposed research design involves any contact with human
volunteersinterviews, surveys, observations, focus groups, or any type
of testingyou must consider the protection of your human subjects. University policy and federal law (45 CFR 46) define three levels of review for research proposals using
subjectsexemption from review, expedited review, and full board review.
The level depends on who the subjects will be and how much risk their
participation will involve.
The Research Office has established procedures for determining which kind of human subjects review your research demands.
Your participation in the Human Subjects Review process will be governed by protocols established for the Biden School . After reviewing the protocols, an application packet should be completed and sent electronically to Dr. Paul Solano, the chair of the Biden School human subjects review committee.
In addition, Dr. Danilo Yanich is the Biden School's representative to the University Institutional Review Board.
