CCRS, in collaboration with the University of Maryland, has published a new brief “Health Policy and Access to Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives”. Co-authored by Corinne Bogan, CCRS graduate assistant, and Daniel Marthey, PhD graduate assistant at the University of Maryland, this brief describes on-going state and federal efforts to increase LARC access, the background motivating this policy push, and potential unintended consequences to reproductive justice. The brief is part of a six-year evaluation project to examine the impact of a Delaware initiative (Delaware Contraceptive Access Now (DelCAN)) initiative focusing on reducing unintended pregnancies and improving access to and delivery of family planning services and contraceptives, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs). The project, led by University of Maryland’s Dr. Michael Rendall, is an independent evaluation of DelCAN by the University of Maryland and University of Delaware that began in June 2016 and is expected to be completed by mid-2022.
