BodyText1
As of July 1, 2020, the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration is a freestanding school at the University of Delaware, administratively separate from any college at UD. As the Biden School operates on an increasingly University-wide scale, this structure encourages the growth of cross-disciplinary, collaborative programs and enhances its unique role in fostering interdisciplinary partnerships.
Designation as a freestanding school:
aligns the Biden School with the structure of the nations leading public affairs programs;
affirms the Biden Schools distinctive interdisciplinary, professional and public service mission and orientation;
provides the independence needed for the Biden School to operate in a manner consistent with its mission and orientation;
establishes a level of institutional identity commensurate with its University-wide responsibilities; and
facilitates the Biden Schools collaboration with all University colleges and with diverse external partners, local to global.
