Faculty, students, and alumni of the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration have a long tradition of applying their education and rigorous research skills in ways that benefit society at all scales. The response to COVID-19 reinforces the importance of that public service mission and illustrates how our school community continues to step up and take on the most important problems of our times. 

This panel discussion, held on May 6, 2020, highlights a few of the many efforts members of the Biden School Community have been engaged in over the last few months.

  • Dr. Eric Best, Assistant Policy Scientist, Center for Applied Demography & Survey Research
  • Dr. Frederica Bianco, Assistant Professor, Departments of Physics and Astronomy and the Joseph R. Biden School of Public Policy and Administration
  • Dr. Greg Dobler, Director of the Urban Observatory (UO) facility, Assistant Professor, Joseph R. Biden Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration
  • Dr. Eric Anthony Johnson, Chief of Economic Development, Housing and Neighborhood Services for Dallas, Texas
  • Kate Kitchener, Chief of Staff at the New York City Department of Sanitation Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability

These experts are engaged in important work that includes data collection and modeling to forecast healthcare and supply needs, media and public outreach, food supply chain logistics, and housing access.
