| University of Delaware | | Newark, DE 19716 | <div class="ExternalClass94483840BFCA47CBAA79345AE1A34E2E"><p dir="ltr">Mark Rucci (BA/MPA ‘15) is a social science researcher and policy professional with experience in state, national, and international government strategy and decision making. He is interested in digital government services, reducing income and wealth inequality, and entrepreneurship as a means of economic development. He is currently pursuing his JD at the University of Michigan Law School.</p><p dir="ltr">Mark is a former director at Revolution, a venture capital firm founded by AOL co-founder Steve Case that invests in innovative and disruptive startups all across the United States. Mark was a member of the Rise of the Rest team at Revolution, a $300M seed fund that invests in entrepreneurs outside of the major investment hubs of Silicon Valley, New York, and Boston. Mark worked with policymakers, universities, investors, startups, corporations, media, and ecosystem builders to foster innovation and economic development and democratize access to capital in all parts of the country.</p><p dir="ltr">Prior to that, Mark worked in the Strategy & Operations practice of Deloitte Consulting, where his work focused on innovation and customer strategy. He worked with clients in the civilian, national security, and private sectors to build the capacity to become more innovative through the use of prize design, customer segmentation, behavioral public policy, and workforce strategy. His clients included the US Postal Service, the National Parks Service, the Department of Homeland Security, and an international public health NGO.</p><p dir="ltr">Mark earned his master’s degree from the International Inequalities Institute at The London School of Economics, where he also published papers on the relationship between poverty and inequality for Oxfam International, the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion, and the European Commission. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 2015 with a B.A. in Public Policy and an M.P.A. with a focus in Policy Analysis. He also served as a Legislative Fellow in the Delaware House of Representatives on the House Education Committee. </p><p dir="ltr">At UD, Mark was named a David A. Plastino Scholar for his project "Kids Deserve a SNAC: A Path to the Community Eligibility Option," where he travelled across the U.S. to research free meal programs for low-income students. He received the Henry R. Folsom Award for his subsequent policy brief on the topic.</p><p dir="ltr">Upon graduation from UD, Mark received the Alexander J. Taylor Award as the Most Outstanding Male Graduate of the Class of 2015. The award is given annually by the university to recognize a senior man who most exemplifies academic success, leadership, and community service. Mark currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for UD’s College of Arts and Sciences.
