| Elizabeth Burland | 2015 | B.A. and M.A. | https://www.bidenschool.udel.edu/Images Profile Alumnus/Burland_Elizabeth.jpg | Doctoral Student, University of Michigan | <p>Elizabeth Burland (B.A. and M.A. ’15) is a doctoral student in Sociology and Public Policy atthe University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy. Elizabeth received both her honors Bachelor of Arts in public policy and Master of Arts in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Delaware in 2015. As a master’s student, Elizabeth worked at the Institute for Public Administration on the Wilmington Education Advisory Committee, andwrote her thesis titled, “Governing Wilmington Public Education: Legal Legacy, Community Impacts, Policy Recommendations.” Her committee was chaired by Dr. Dan Rich.</p><p>Prior to moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, Elizabeth worked as a researcher for the Institutefor Public Administration (IPA) and the Administrative Coordinator for the Wilmington Education Improvement Commission (WEIC). IPA serves as the support staff for the WEIC which was created through HB148 during the 2015 Delaware Legislative Session. Through this work, Elizabeth worked directly with educators, school and district leadership, as well as policymakers at both the state and local level to make strategic and important policy changes. </p><p>Elizabeth will continue to focus on the relation between educational opportunities andpoverty and inequality combined with the influence of public policy throughout her doctoral studies.</p> | https://www.bidenschool.udel.edu/Images Profile Alumnus/Forms/DispForm.aspx?ID=12 | |
